What fantastic weather for the BDMCC’s annual North West Grasstrack which took place on Friday 18 May 2018 with an entry of 307 adults and schoolboys.

And what fantastic racing! With the ever-popular pitbikes and the introduction of sidecars, there was certainly something for everyone.  Canada’s Corey Warren from Ruthless Racing Inc. was also in attendance riding in the Pitbike class.

In the Autos, Lewis Mullan finished first overall with a first, second and third.  Corbin Marsden was second and Alfie Herron, who missed the first race, won the second and third races.

In the 65’s, Lewis Spratt came first overall with a second, first and first.  In race 1, Lewis McMurtry led until the last two laps when young Rueben Marsden made his move to finish first with Spratt following suit to move into second place.  What close racing between these three young men.  You certainly couldn’t have picked the winner until the chequered flag!

In the SW 85’s Brett Kelly finished first overall with a first, first and second.  Tony McCann and Luke Stockdale finished close behind.

Josh Mackeral and Jack Willis went head to head in the BW 85’s into the last race with a first and second for each for the King of the North West Cup but Mackeral was unlucky and stalled in the third race, giving Jack the win for first overall.  Jake McDaid had a good day with a third, fourth and second, ending up second overall.

Onto Seniors, Bobby McGuicken had a brilliant three firsts with Taylor Dillion finishing second overall and Bradley Andrews third overall.

In the Youth Pitbike A, Alex Thompson, our girl of the meeting, showed the boys who’s boss with three wins which saw her crowned King of the Northwest.  Adam Pearson finished second overall with Adam Law third overall.

In the Youth Pitbike B, Kai Wallace finished first overall with a first and two seconds.  Oran McConnellogue came a close second and Kagan Walsh was third.

James Thompson walked away with three firsts in race two of the Adult Pitbikes.  Adam McFaull had a bad start but worked his way through to finish in second place with Phil Adair third.  In race three, James Thompson won the cup with Phil Adair coming second.

In the Veteran’s race one, Ricky Watt and Steven Kelly had a close race battling for first and second place.  Ricky triumphed securing first place with Trevor Calderwood a close third and Davy Wilson a very close fourth.  In race two, Steven Kelly led from start to finish, winning the King of the North West Cup with Ashley Allerton in second place and Trevor Calderwood in third.

In the BS race one, Ricky Portis lead the race from start to finish with Mark Graham in second place and Callum Hemphill in third place.  Ricky Portis was first again in race 2, with Callum Hemphill coming in second and Russell Tannahill third.  Race three saw Russell Tannahill lead the race from the very start to be crowned King of the Northwest.  Callum Hemphill took second place and Ricky Portis third.

In the CS, the uneven numbers race one, Aaron Wright finished ahead of Martin Portis with Micheal Huey in third place.  In race two, Martin Portis was first with Ryan McMaster second and Micheal Huey third.

In race one, Neil McFarlene took the win with Steven Maitlan in second place. Race two saw Neil McFarlene in first place again with Steven Maitlan second and Gary Scott third.

Ryan McMaster led the Grade C King of the North West Cup from start to finish.
